Network of Korean American Leaders (NetKAL), Honorees

The Network of Korean American Leaders (NetKAL) Fellowship Program began in 2006, the first and only leadership program drawing together 1.5 and 2nd generation Korean American leaders with a view toward enhancing the civic leadership capacity of our community through the strengthening of a national leadership network.

Building on this program foundation, the NetKAL Fellows and Advisors launched the NetKAL Summit, a one-day dialogue and network building meeting for prominent Korean Americans from around the U.S. The inaugural Summit was held in Washington DC in November 2009; the 2010 NetKAL Summit will take place in Washington DC on September 24-25.

Organized by the Center for Asian Pacific Leadership at the University of Southern California, the NetKAL Fellowship Program is a six month series of intensive monthly weekend leadership workshops featuring innovative educators, inspiring speakers, and invigorating discussions with other Fellows who are passionate about creating change through civic leadership. Workshops are designed to provide participants with the mindset and tools they need to build coalitions, communicate effectively and lead transformation, while defining their own multi-faceted role as a Korean-American leader.

NetKAL Program Components
- Leadership Education Workshops
- Distinguished Guest Speakers and Networking Panels
- Community-Focused Group Project

The NetKAL Fellowship Program selects a professionally diverse group of 24-26 outstanding individuals from across the United States for each cohort. All are extremely well regarded in their own fields and are leaders of change in their organizations, communities and society at large. Through the NetKAL Fellowship these outstanding individuals become strong links in a leadership network for the Korean American community.

The most recent NetKAL V Fellowship Program began in Washington, DC in March, 2010 and continues to August 2010. Previous programs took place in New York and Los Angeles with Fellows from around the United States. There are now 123 NetKAL Fellows nationwide.
