Educational Forums

Educational Forums provide an opportunity to discuss and raise awareness of public affairs issues, to bring community members together, and to meet civic leaders. Examples of past forums include:

• Asian Americans and Politics: An INSIDER's View
• 2002 New York State Gubernatorial Candidates Forum
• Asian American Perspectives on Reporting, Rebuilding, and Reflecting after 9/11, discussion of how 9/11 events have uniquely impacted our community
• The World Cup and Dog-Eating, a panel discussion on media representation of the Korean American community
• Differences in Unity, an event sharing the personal messages of diversity among the 2nd generation Korean American community
• Shining the Light - Asian Americans Making a Difference Today, event honoring Korean American community leaders
• The Korean American Experience: Time Past, Present and Future, an educational symposium commemorating the 100th anniversary of Korean immigration to the U.S., co-sponsored with YWCA-Flushing
• Serving the Public: Why You Should Consider Practicing Law in the Public Sector and What Public Service Can Do for Your Career
• Identifying Issues Impacting the Korean American Community, non partisan forum designed to educate Korean and Asian American communities about voting and policy issues in 2004 presidential elections
• Voter Education Forum: Help America to Vote Act (HAVA), co-sponsored with the Korean American Open Forum
• Meet the Candidates for New York State Assembly (District 22), non-partisan candidates forum co-sponsored with African American, Latino, and other APA community organizations
• How Do You Vote?, a multi-ethnic voter education forum for immigrant voters in Queens, co-sponsored with Latino and other APA community organizations
